Whole Tens — Missing Number: how to help at home or in class
Play a hidden-bills game. Lay out a total in play ten-dollar bills, say 110, then slide some under a cup and show only what is left, such as 4 bills. Your child works out how many are hiding by jumping up from 40 to 110 in tens on a number line, then swaps roles and hides bills for you to guess. When they name the hidden amount at once, move on to two-digit numbers that are not whole tens.
