Math Worksheets for 2nd Graders
Free printable 2nd grade math worksheets, each with an answer key. No login required.
93 single-skill topics in 11 categories. Each topic has up to 15 different worksheets that print on one page, and every answer is checked by a separate program before a sheet is published.
Second grade extends the number system from 100 to 1,000. Children work with hundreds, tens and ones, add and subtract two- and three-digit numbers (including regrouping), and begin to see multiplication through equal groups and arrays.
It is also the year children first measure with rulers, count money, tell time to five minutes and read their first graphs. The topics here are split into single skills so you can practice exactly the step that is causing trouble, such as subtracting across a zero, without working through a full mixed page.

What 2nd grade students should be able to do
- Understand 3-digit numbers as hundreds, tens and ones; read, write, compare and order them.
- Skip count by 2s, 5s, 10s and 100s, and tell even from odd numbers.
- Add and subtract within 1,000, with and without regrouping.
- Use repeated addition and arrays as the first step toward multiplication.
- Measure lengths in inches and centimeters, and count coins and dollar bills.
- Tell and draw time to five minutes, and use a.m. and p.m.
- Name shapes and equal shares, read picture and bar graphs, and solve one- and two-step word problems.
A suggested order for 2nd grade math
- Place Value — Hundreds, tens and ones underpin every addition and subtraction skill this year.
- Skip Counting & Number Sense — Counting by 2s, 5s, 10s and 100s builds number sense and prepares for multiplication.
- Addition — Move from whole tens, to two-digit columns, to regrouping, then to three-digit numbers.
- Subtraction — Follow the same order as addition; leave subtracting across zeros until regrouping is secure.
- Arrays & Repeated Addition — Equal groups and rows and columns, the bridge to third-grade multiplication.
- Measurement — Rulers in inches and centimeters, with estimating and choosing units.
- Counting Money — Real-world practice of skip counting and adding.
- Telling Time — Quarter hours first, then five-minute intervals, then a.m. and p.m.
- Geometry — Shape attributes and equal shares, the start of fractions.
- Data & Graphing — Picture graphs, bar graphs and line plots.
- Word Problems — Apply each operation once the skill itself is secure.
Tips for using these worksheets
- Regrouping is the hardest step this year. Have your child say what they are doing ("ten ones make one ten") instead of only following a rule like "carry the one".
- Practice skip counting out loud in the car or on walks; it takes no paper and helps with money and time later.
- For word problems, ask your child to draw the story first, then write the number sentence.
- Use real coins and a real ruler alongside the money and measurement sheets whenever you can.
Every worksheet prints on one page and has an answer key. Read how we check answers.
